neon district feasibility study
Inspired by the magic of Neon Signs, BridgmanCollaborative Architecture and the Downtown Winnipeg Biz set out to explore the possibility of a Main Street District alive with fluorescent lights. Over seventy stakeholders were invited to a community workshop that explored both the history of neon signage in Winnipeg, the current context along Main Street and the potential for transforming the District into a safe and exciting area. It was an important first step in determining the educational, artistic, job training and tourism components of the project. In response, our report (2010) provided a background study, inventory, workshop findings and business plan for a NEON district in Winnipeg.
