Your stories. Our designs. Together.
BridgmanCollaborative Architecture designs housing, cultural centres, community centres, libraries, schools, daycares, museums, and more.
Everyone deserves good design.
Everyone deserves dignity.
Everyone deserves dignity.
BridgmanCollaborative Architecture works on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional homeland of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Anisininew Nations, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. Our water comes from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation.
We respect the living Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, understanding that architecture has historically and to this day been complicit in Canada’s colonial history. We dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of collaboration. As we learn together, we seek to respect and honour the lands on which we design and build – with hope, respect, and compassion.

hello! a bit about us
BridgmanCollaborative – we are designers, architects, and advocates.
We are a company of architects, designers, and advocates, each bringing a unique set of skills and experiences to the table. Since 1998, our practice has been rooted in Manitoba on ancestral lands in Treaty 1 Territory and the heartland of the Red River Métis people. Our work takes many forms – from architectural design, heritage planning and community planning, to exhibits and poster campaigns. We have received over 30 awards in accessible, inclusive design and heritage architecture.
Community activism infuses our work.
We build relationships. We work towards making people's lives better and our communities stronger. We listen and we ask careful questions. Our CO-LAB BLOG shares our passion for architecture, design, and urban issues (our opinion pieces have featured on CBC News).
We're helping to lead change. Here are some firsts. We designed the accessibility ramp for Manitoba's Legislative Building (the first such ramp for a Legislative Building in Canada), the first passive house in Manitoba, the first pop-up public toilet in Winnipeg - and we have worked to bring permanent public toilets back to Winnipeg.
We honour the nexus of new and old design.
While most of our architectural projects feature new design, we also specialize in the adaptive re-use of heritage buildings and innovative, energy-efficient retrofits. We honour the dynamic nexus of new and old design, including the firm’s own offices in Winnipeg’s historic Old Dominion Bank Building. Watch a small film about our heritage work here.
We celebrate collaboration.
All our work is people-oriented. We believe good design comes from listening and building relationships with individuals and communities. It is an honour to be invited into communities, to learn from their stories, and to design and build together. Our inclusive design process encourages collaboration among our design team, consultants and clients. The results . . . culturally responsive, inventive, resourceful, robust, even simple and elegant design solutions.
